The Pure Cure Healthy Living Radio/TV Show with Sharyn Wynters – Get Healthy the Wynters Way!
Thursday, Match 6, 1:30pm (PT)
This week I’ll be talking with Environmental Health Activist Stacy Malkan
For over a decade, Stacy Malkan has worked with leading environmental groups on campaigns to move the market to safer products. She is author of the award-winning book, “Not Just a Pretty Face: The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry” (New Society, 2007) and co-founder of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, a coalition of nonprofit health and environmental groups that is shifting the $60 billion beauty industry away from harmful chemicals. Stacy has been named “one of five visionaries leading the charge to better health,” by Experience Life! Magazine, and “one of seven powerful women in the natural beauty industry,” by NewHope360. Stacy has appeared on Good Morning America, CBS Morning Show, Democracy Now!, Fran Drescher’s Tawk Show, NBC, ABC and in New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, Globe & Mail and San Jose Mercury News. She has appeared in several documentary films including The Human Experiment, Unacceptable Levels and Pink Skies.
From 2001–2008 Stacy was the communications director for the international coalition Health Care Without Harm, which got mercury out of health care and closed down medical waste incinerators around the world. In 2012, Stacy served as media director for the California Right to Know ballot initiative to label genetically engineered foods, and she was a media consultant for the Washington State I-522 Campaign to label GMOs. Prior to her work as an environmental health activist, Stacy worked as a journalist for eight years in Colorado and she published and edited the monthly investigative newspaper, The Summit Free Press, from 1994-2000.
Stacy and I will discuss Move the Market.org, which partners with leading non-profit organizations on campaigns to move the market to safe products, healthy food and clean production. They specialize in communications and campaign strategies to change the practices of corporations, build political power and transform polluting industries. Current projects include campaigns to save the bees, label genetically engineered foods, get cancer-causing chemicals out of cosmetics, advance green chemistry, and create an economy that values life and health for all… And more!
